Capital Campaign

We can’t do it alone!  We need your support!

We have set a capital campaign goal of $130,000 representing the 130 years the Johnstown Historical Society has existed.

It’s hard to put a dollar figure on the needs of our three buildings.  We do know there are a number of grants available, but most require “Matching Funds” (real dollars) and “In-Kind Services” are rarely recognized as matching funds.  Some grants require 25-50 percent of the total cost of a project.  Most grants have a maximum dollar amount available and all grants need proof that the matching funds are sufficient to complete the project.  Here is a brief overview of our immediate capital needs and our vision for the future.

               Repair the foundation

               Continue with exterior repairs

Create a gift shop and museum store

               Create a replica glove shop

Create display space dedicated to the Colonial Burial Ground

The James Burk Inn

the basis for proposing physical changes as Phase I of historic preservation efforts

               Repair the foundation

Re-establish the Tavern Room to its 18th century appearance

Re-establish the Boot Shop at the rear of the building
